From the past few months

Here I am, sitting by the pool, listening to Adele on the radio, enjoying life. Just kidding, what I’m really doing is sitting by the pool, being forced to listen to Adele, and having nothing to do. Oh, did I mention the laptop in front of me. Who brings a laptop to the poolside?!

Me, apparently. That’s how bored I am. I bring a laptop to the poolside.

Now, don’t think that I don’t like pools. I spent two good hours in the pool this morning, it’s tiring. I’m just here to accompany my hardcore brother who wouldn’t mind spending his whole day in the pool.

Oh, now they are playing Zombie by The Cranberries. Good choice, radio. Good choice. Which reminds me, zombie apocalypse is coming!

This is a little abrupt, and totally unrelated, but here are some pictures from the past few months. I don’t want to let them go to waste. :D

My first time at Time Out Comedy Thursday, in Zouk.

A very dark picture with Alex during the show. According to him, that’s the point of taking pictures in clubs.

guitar pendrive
A super cute guitar pendrive I got from a press conference. The glue wasn’t dry though D: and I lost one part of the guitar wtf. No idea where it went, it fell out of my file. :(

Polaroid! This was at a pre-St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Malone’s, Sooka Sentral.

The green man!

I don’t know who that is…

I cheated, someone did that for me and let me hold it for a picture hahaha. But these two are legit, they did it themselves! :D

Here’s our professional.

Taken by some photographer, and this exact picture was included in their press release email. D:
And MSN Malaysia uploaded this too. *flattered.

Oversized leprechaun hat and glasses! :D

Temporary tattoo which faded when I went to shower before bed wtf.

Sarah’s and Alex’s temporary tattoo. :D I should’ve gotten the Guinness logo too!

Moving on….

I’m a BRAT! K. Selangor 2012 batch.

I’m so belated in these photos, the second BRATs workshop is already happening. Might be ending soon too. -_-

Group photo! Don’t know what happened to the proper photos that Jason Lioh took.

I’m suicidal! During BRATs camp! LOL just kidding.

I accidentally scratched myself twice with this. -_-

My roommates. :D

Right after BRATs, I went to St. Patrick’s celebration in Changkat Bukit Bintang. (This was on the actual day of St. Patrick’s) And that was the most hardcore thing I’ve ever done. Well I did take a nap first, and it took around 20 missed calls and a few alarms to wake me up. D:

Oh and I also bumped into the BRATs photographer when I was there. -_-

Me and Alex setting up the Expatriate Lifestyle buntings. We went early to help out.

With you-know-who again.

With Sarah!

I’m not sure how I survived, but the very next day after St. Patrick’s, I went to Putrajaya Hot Air Balloon Festival.

Wen Yi and Zoey’s cousin, Tyler (I think :p ). Oh and that’s a real camera.

Pardon the dark photo, but they’re the balloons I bought for my brother.

Dinner after! :D

The Hunger Games movie premiere! Jer Rei was super nice and won this for me. :’)

Anyway, I loveee the trilogy, but wtf there were some crazy fangirls there. They cut queue, screamed when they started to show trailers wtf, when the movie started and during a few scenes. It was horrible.

During the company night out.

The Mongoose bosses!

The next night we had Esquire’s 1st Anniversary celebration in Zouk. :D

5 of the elves manning the registration booth. Spot Bradley Cooper in the background. :D

With one of the Time Out Comedy Thursday comedian, Youcef Banouni.

With Amber Chia. Henry Golding, Deborah Henry and Daphne Iking were there too but I didn’t catch them.

One of the times Angeline came to visit us during our lunch hour. :D

This is Sarah, on the LRT, with her skirt stuck to the door. HAHAHA :p

This is a no-smoking sign my brother drew and pasted in the house lolol. So cute :D

On one of my many visits to KLCC, I witnessed a pretty cute proposal! :D

The friends gathered near the KLCC park, waiting for the girl to come out and see this. I think they were playing some romantic music in the background or something.

So cute right?! :D They were waiting there for quite a while, and in the end they just went into the mall looking for the girl lolol. And found her in front of Mont Blanc wtf.

The girl took quite a while to accept the proposal. D: It was actually pretty awkward as we all waited for her response. The guy next to me said she probably wanted to reject instead hahaha!

Reunion dinner with the “family”.

Saw this in Pavilion. Expensive sex timer wtf.

Afterwork drink on a Monday night with Ashley. :3

At Snowflake! :D

The Avenger’s premiere, with Kritz who refused to be in the picture.

They hired people to dress up as the Avengers. :O

Farewell dinner for the 4 Mongoose interns! :D

Jer Rei has mad skills for taking group photos like this.

I went to Publika for An Honest Mistake album launch but I left before they even started. -_- This was one of the performances prior to the album launch, when I was still there.

I think this is weird.

The new 50 cents coins dispensed from the autopay machine because I didn’t have small change. A few weeks later, I got another batch of RM9 worth of old 50 cents coins for the same reason. First world pain wtf.

Had dinner with Angeline. :D

Had brunch with Nidi, Jer Rei and Alex before Nidi went back to Indonesia. Sarah and Sim were supposed to be there too! :/

I know this may be TMI, but despite enjoying this big breakfast, I puked everything out a few hours later. :( I still can’t figure out what was wrong wtf.

Surprised Wen Yi with a cake on her birthday! I think the main surprise element was me and Jo Yi’s presence. :p

Then we went for movie and steamboat dinner. She knew about the dinner, but she didn’t know others would be joining the dinner. So I’d like to think that the surprise was a success. :D

With the birthday girl! :D

All our phones at dinner. Nokia, the last one standing.

And moving on to the next birthday surprise!

Stichie lover, Kexin. :D

We waited for her in her house, and she came back without any warning and so she surprised us instead. A lot of us were too shocked to react. Though, she was still very surprised and went on screaming hugging and having teary eyes. :D Her reactions were so good and satisfying.

With the stitchie birthday girl. :D

The present from me, Wen Yi, Zoey and Jo Yi. We solved the puzzle and framed it on the same day lol.

The heart piece in the middle can be taken out. :D And maybe replace it with a photo or something.

Playing with her stitch hats.

Jen looking adorable! :D

KLCCKLCC
One must take pictures of KLCC if one works near KLCC.

KLCC
One more of the clouds/haze/whatever hiding half of KLCC.

Menara Ambank
And this is Menara Ambank. :D

I shall end this post with this photo.

Shook! at Starhill Gallery. :D

Whew! That’s a lot of photos wtf.
Now that I’m done creating a false illusion of my life, I shall go back to my real life.

Last day of internship

Mongoose Publishing

My internship has officially ended. And I got my cheque on the last day! HAHAHA okay I actually thought I would have to go back to collect the cheque.

Anyway, I am freezing my ass off in the office as usual, and to make it worse I caught flu too. D: So that’s my last day, being sick wtf.

As much as I would like to, I can’t share details about my internship. One, because my memory sucks; two, because I am not allowed to, I signed that contract.

Bye Mongoose! Bye Time Out KL, Esquire and Expatriate Lifestyle.

TFI Mongoose

Only 5 days left at work, and by work I mean internship. I only realized yesterday that I’m leaving soon. I’ve spent most of my time in that office, and I travel 1 hour +++ to just get to work and another 1 hour ++ to get home, sometimes up to 3 hours in total. When you make so much effort for work every day, you don’t leave the place without feeling anything.

Thank goodness that me and carpool partner Ken Tze/Alex take turns to drive. It’s nice to have someone in the car to go through the daily horrible traffic with you, even if he is sleeping. After the daily torture of at least 30 minutes of standstill traffic in Jalan Tun Razak, I’ve learnt to appreciate any traffic that is moving. Also, I think I might have turned into a KL driver, unfortunately. But KL drivers are really not all that bad, you’ll get used to it. I’ve only seen one car following behind ambulance thus far, and two more but that was near Jalan Bangsar.

One of the worst traffic, I think it was when SMART Tunnel was closed.

Oh, you might have heard of all those intern horror stories. Nope they do not happen in the office, so no, I only make drinks and buy food for myself.

Sometimes, I get to work out of the office. And when we have our own events, events that not even ~famous bloggers~ are invited to, we get to go. Although we usually help out if we go, but that’s only because we volunteer to. And contrary to popular belief, there IS an unglamorous side of working in a publishing company. It’s not all fun and parties.

I am so grateful for this, the great and friendly bosses, all in their respective accents, the intern gang (intern manager Jer Rei, crazy Sarah, slave Nidi and vegetarian-restaurant-owner simsimi Sim). And then there’s the non-intern but blur Justin, and (not-so) tweetnoob Juliana. Not to forget all the other stylish colleagues.

And so, my first ever internship and work experience in ending in 5 days. :( Mongoose is like my first love :’( I don’t want to get back to the real world!

#TFIFriday

PS: It’s Thank Fuck It’s Mongoose. :p From our April’s TFIFriday :D

Internship

I’ve started my internship with Time Out KL / Mongoose Publishing today (as in 13 February)! :D I have been pretty busy, and usually after work I’m just really tired. But I feel like blogging today, so here’s my belated internship blog post. :D I think this is going to be one messy blog post.

First day after work. :D I look SUPER DUPER pale and my dark eye circles are horrible too :’(

So, it was my first day! :D I was sooo excited and nervous and scared all at the same time. D: I was worried about being late to work, or getting lost on the way (and with all the jam I’d arrive super late), and about the people there, aka my future colleagues, the drivers in KL, the parking, my attire, and everything else wtf.

Missed the 2nd day, so this was on the 3rd day. :D

Well as it turns out, I should’ve prepared myself more for the KL drivers. Only one part, but that one part was freaking scary! We were barely moving but the cars were forcing themselves on each other. HAHA I mean, forcing people to make way for them wtf. THE CARS WERE SO CLOSE TO EACH OTHER! There were 4 lanes, but 6 lines of cars. Some motorcycles were stuck and couldn’t move too, and motorcycles don’t usually get stuck in the jam with cars.

But anyway, cheers to myself for driving there and back without getting lost or into an accident. :D WOOHOO!

4th day :D

Oh back to the internship, so far so good. I honesty have no comment (yet). I’m not allowed to talk much about work. :D Anyway, I was introduced to everyone in the office, but wtf I couldn’t even remember most of the faces, just some faces and some names. They all seem nice, but intimidating too.

Oh Ken Tze, for some reason, came to lunch with me on the first day. :D Apparently there’s a food court inside the building.

5th day. :D

Everything went well until last Friday (except for Wednesday where the massive jam caused me to miss a dinner with friends :/ ). D: I was supposed to go to Mid Valley and park my car there, but wtf I was too used to taking the usual way to work, I forgot that going to Mid Valley was another way. D:

And when I realized that 30 minutes later, it was already jam everywhere. After finally reaching Mid Valley, I took the KTM and LRT to work. And thus, I was an hour late to work. D: An freaking hour late!!!

BLUR MAX OMG. :’( I mean like, who on earth so blur one wtf. Debbie, look at the trouble I went through just for you. :’)

Anyway, it’s always so jam I can camwhore and online/text/tweet, and eat. D: But with or without jam, I always have my daily karaoke sessions in the car. Music (and preferably songs you can sing along to) is essential to survive the traffic jam. :D

My 6th day and Ken Tze’s 1st day! :D

And today Ken Tze joined me at work today. Woohoo! We carpool, and it’s so nice to have someone with you through the jam. He’s actually quite impatient with the jam, I thought I was impatient, turns out I’m actually quite calm and patient LOL.

Super old and slow iMac, but cute. :D

So… this was what happened on the day we were interviewed by the editors of both Time Out KL and Malaysia, not about the interview itself. Didn’t want to waste the original blog post and pictures. :D

After interview, we walked from the office to KLCC to have some sort of celebratory lunch in Ben’s. We sat at the couch part and it was sooooo comfortable! And so many pillows! :D Oh and they had this card and table topics.

We only managed to read one that asked us if we would like to time travel to the past or future. Something like that.

What we ordered: beef lasagna and soft shell crab spaghetti (I think). :D They were heavenly, especially since I was starving. :P

After a very full satisfying lunch, we went to watch the movie Underworld Awakening wtf. At the ticketing counter, the person asked for our IDs to check if we were 18 and above wtf hahahaha! That was the first time I actually had to show proof to buy 18+ movie ticket. :D

The movie was nice, and I’ve only watched The Rise of Lycans. They had some disgusting scenes though.

At night, I went out with Feeq to have Nando’s.

He was supposed to come fetch me at 8pm and we were supposed to catch the premiere of Chronicle at Cathay Cineplex. But wtf he was so late I figured my stomach is more important than the movie. No regrets, stomach was happy. :D
